The Gender Inclusion and Equity Initiatives under the PM-USHA has not yet started because of many reasons. In the meeting held at the Department of Higher and Technical Education Govt. of Jharkhand, Ranchi on the 24.07.2025 the issues were resolved.
It was decided that the Gender Initiatives will not only be confined to organizing seminars/conference/workshops but include other activities which will involve the actual target groups that is the boys and girls pursuing education at school, college or university level. It was also decided that the activities will be spread across the five districts i.e. Hazaribag, Giridih, Chatra, Ramgarh and Koderma, the districts under the jurisdiction of Vinoba Bhave University (VBU).
The University proposes to organize activities which involve the students of the schools, colleges and the university departments of Vinoba Bhave University. The activities should have (i) social message for the students as well as the common persons of the state (ii) promote various art (e.g. painting); dance forms, musical instruments etc. These will be identified through experts from other parts of the country and primarily by organizing debate and discussion by the actual stakeholders.
The examination for the Post Graduate students is in progress and should be over by the third week of August and the admissions for the Undergraduate students has been done and the classes are about to start. Once the PG and UG students are on campus we will start the activities with them. We will design activities for understanding inclusion and promoting gender equity amongst school students which will start as soon as the BoG has met and approved the activities. The budget for different activities will also be decided in the expert committee and placed before the BoG for consideration.
(i) It is proposed to organize a workshop (in August 2025) of experts at the VBU to identify activities and also the process through which the activities will be organized at the grassroots level i.e. schools, colleges and university.
(ii) To make the program a grand success it has been decided to place a banner on a prominent location, at the earliest, in all colleges (Constituent and Affiliated) of the VBU, announcing the program and the activities to be taken up under the PM-USHA for the information of all.
(iii) Ten schools will be identified in each of the five districts besides Kasturba Gandhi Balike Vidyalayas (KBVB) where the banner will be placed and also activities organized if the schools give proactive response.
(iv) One college principal and one coordinator will be identified in each district to coordinate the activities.
